The Pronto UniFi OSS architecture for WiMax is based on functional decomposition principles as defined by the WiMAX Forum. Various features of the UniFi OSS solution are decomposed into various functional modules of the software and network entities. The UniFi OSS is a modular and flexible system providing support for a broad range of implementation and deployment options. These deployments could follow a centralized, distributed or hybrid architecture. The architecture can scale from the base case of a single operator with a single base station to a large-scale deployment by multiple operators with roaming agreements. A greenfield operator as well as an incumbent operator can deploy the UniFi OSS by interworking with existing service provider applications.

Pronto UniFi OSS consists of a set of various solution components. The Pronto UniFi OSS is deployed using a group of servers. These include a Web Services Server for authenticating users, a Customer Portal server furnishing web pages to clients, Operations Support Services server including the prepaid card generation engine and other back office tasks, CPE self provisioning server and a database server for core data management functions. These functions can be grouped on a single file server or can be deployed on a distributed configuration for scalability and performance considerations.

The OSS systems reside in the Network Operations Center of the service provider and integrate with a WiMAX ASN (Access Services Network) via the IP core network. The ASN network contains the ASN gateway and other network elements that act as the policy enforcement points for the network.
